Pages and Stages Through the Ages

Explore the great works of dramatic literature!

It’s a book club — but for plays.

Read a selected play and join us on the third Thursday of every month for a discussion that will include a brief summary of the play’s history — facts about the playwright, how it might have been produced in its time, impact on the development of works for the stage.

Beginning February 19, 2026, we will meet on the third Thursday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm to talk about that month’s selection.

See FAQs below for more information.

Please note: If we have more than 2 events available for reservations at one time, you may not see all of them when you first click the red “Reservations” toggle. Just click in the white space between two events to force the widget to expand and display all available events.

For questions or assistance, please email boxoffice@clamourtheatre.org (and please tell us which play you are asking about or trying to reserve).

ACCESSIBILITY

FIUMC is wheelchair-accessible.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

In general, in 2026, we will meet on the third Thursday evening of each month from 6:30pm to 8:30pm. There may be a few exceptions. Please confirm dates here before you come — or, better yet, sign up to be notified by email.

We meet in the Admin West building of the Fleming Island United Methodist Church. Address is 7170 US Highway 17, Fleming Island, FL 32068.

The location is the west side of 17, a little south of Pat’s Nursery and a little north of Corky Bell’s restaurant.

Look for the Clamour yard sign to find the entrance you should use.

Anyone who has read the play of the month.

We are working our way through some of the great works of dramatic literature by reading the selected play in advance and discussing it at the meeting.

A play will be selected each month with the title and author posted on this website along with links for free digital copies (if available) or links to one or more online vendors.

If you plan to attend, get a copy of the play via those links or from your local library or bookstore.  Read the play, and come prepared to discuss at the meeting.

You don’t necessarily have to own the play. We will provide links to any public domain downloadable copies. It may be possible to borrow from your local library or via Inter-library Loan. Ask your Facebook friends. As we approach the modern era, you may have to purchase a script or two.
