Acting I – The Building Blocks

For the beginning/amateur adult actor

Clamour Theatre Company, in association with Create Your New Beginning, is pleased to offer an affordable, fun, and informative acting class for beginners. No experience necessary.

Schedule:  Class will meet once a week for 2 hours for 10 weeks. (The day of the week and time will be determined in consultation with interested students.)
Class Size: 6 – 10 people. (All students will work each week.)
Where:  Create Your New Beginning Center, 414 Old Hard Road, Suite 403,Fleming Island, FL
Admission: $150 per person ($50 will be refunded to all students who have perfect attendance) (NOTE: COVID absences will not count against your attendance record.  Please do not attend class if you have tested positive for COVID or have symptoms of the virus.)

FAQs

This class is for the beginning/amateur adult actor. It’s a great introduction and foundation for the craft. There are no prerequisites. You should consider this class if:

– You have never done any acting but would like to know what it’s all about, may want to pursue it, or may simply want to become more comfortable speaking in front of people

– You have done some acting in the past and now want refresh your skills

Students 16 and above will be accepted.  There is no maximum age limit.

Students will learn some simple physical and vocal warm-up exercises, work on ensemble building, introduction to cold reading skills, the basics of script and character analysis, how to choose a monologue and approach a scene.

– Over 25 years in New York City as an actor, director, audition coach, and playwright.

– Member of Actors Equity Association, SAG-AFTRA, the Dramatists Guild, former member of the League of Professional Theatre Women, and a former member of Theatre Resources Unlimited’s producing mentorship program.

– Director at Abingdon Theatre Company, Ma-Yi Theatre Ensemble, New Dramatists, Lincoln Center Institute, the Women’s Project, and Clamour Theatre Company, among others.

– Acted on stage regionally and in NYC as well as in film and television.

 Studied with Anne Bogart, Julia Cary, John Basil, Kevin Kuhlke, Ginger Howard, Alan Miller among others.

– Award-winning playwright with productions in New York, New Jersey, Florida, Massachusetts, and elsewhere.

– Undergraduate degree in Acting from the University of Delaware and a Master’s in Theatre from the University of Denver.
