Things you need to know:

STILL STANDING: JAMES CASH PENNEY & THE COMMUNITY by Elaine Smith is an ensemble piece with music.

In it, J. C. Penney (yes, that J. C. Penney), a frequent public speaker in his lifetime, talks about the early history of the Penney Retirement Community from its beginnings as an experimental colony for retired clergy on the banks of Governors Creek. Members of the ensemble re-enact key events describing the community’s move to its current location, its rebranding as the Memorial Home Community, and its subsequent evolution to what is now the Penney Retirement Community.

This production is one of the events in PRC’s year-long celebration of their Centennial.

Actors of all races and ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

All actors must sing.  The music consists of traditional hymns and a couple of simple folk songs.

Ideally, seeking 2 or 3 actors who also play acoustic instruments: guitar, banjo, dulcimer, mandolin, fiddle, etc.

(NOTE: Since this is an ensemble piece and several actors play multiple roles, the ages listed below are character-specific not actor-specific.)

Seeking actors 40+, but the ensemble may accommodate younger adults.  One role for a 14 year old boy.
